The driver of the Mitsubishi, identified as a 28-year-old man, was transported to Piedmont Athens with serious injuries. The driver of the dump truck, identified as a 56-year-old Monroe man, was not hurt in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene. Police confirmed that the driver of the dump truck will be receiving charges.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
