Monroe County, GA – Georgia State Patrol Vehicle Struck When Driver Fails To Yield
Monroe County, GA (April 19, 2023) – a section of Interstate 75 South is partially closed due to an accident involving a Georgia State Patrol (GSP) vehicle and a truck.
Monroe County Emergency Services has confirmed that the far right lane and shoulder are shut down following the incident.
The accident took place near the weigh station at mile marker 190, and clean-up efforts are currently in progress. No injuries have been reported. Travelers are advised to seek alternative routes if possible.
Update (10:51 P.M.): The Georgia State Patrol released a statement stating that a Trooper was driving north on GA 10 past Dallas Drive when a Mercedes sedan struck their vehicle. Traffic in the left lane had come to a halt because another vehicle was waiting to make a left turn.
As the Trooper traveled in the right lane, the sedan, which was in a southbound lane, made a left turn to enter the Raceway gas station. The sedan’s driver was cited for failing to yield before making a left turn. Both drivers sustained minor injuries, and no other injuries were reported.
