Macon, GA – Child Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Tucker Rd
Macon, GA (April 24, 2023) – Around 7:30 a.m. on the morning of Monday, April 24, a child was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Macon.
According to Bibb County officials, the accident happened on Tucker Road near the area of Weatherby Drive. Police confirmed that a Ford Explorer driven by a 40-year-old man was traveling south when it suddenly struck a child who was crossing the street. The driver allegedly remained at the scene of the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The child, who was identified as an 11-year-old boy, was seriously injured and was rushed to Atrium Health Navicent. He was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital a few hours after the accident.
The roadway was completely blocked for several hours following the collision. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision continues.
