According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at 5:57 p.m. at the intersection of GA-1 and North Long Hollow Road. Police confirmed that a 2011 Toyota RAV4 was traveling east near the intersection and started to make a left turn as it was entering. As the driver was making a turn, their vehicle collided with a Ford Transit vehicle due to reasons that are not entirely known. The accident led to extensive damages to both vehicles and debris was left scattered all over the road.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the road was blocked at the intersection for some time. This led to extensive delays until the scene was cleared.
