Kathleen, GA – Man Injured in Train Accident Near GA-127 & GA-247

Kathleen, GA (September 30, 2021) – On Thursday, September 30, a man was injured in a train accident near an intersection in Kathleen.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-127 and GA-247. A Honda Civic was headed east on GA-127 at the intersection with GA-247. A train was headed south and approaching the area. The Civic didn’t stop in time, which caused it to drive into the path of the train. Both collided forcefully with each other.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Civic, who has only been identified as an adult male, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
