Forsyth, GA – Update: One Killed in Fatal Car Accident on I-75

Forsyth, GA (December 6, 2021) – Around 2:31 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, December 4, one person was killed in a fatal car accident on a highway in Forsyth.

According to local officials, the accident happened on I-75 close to the mile marker 173 area. A silver Toyota was traveling in the area when the driver lost control of their vehicle due to unknown reasons. The driver of the Toyota left the southbound lanes and entered the northbound lanes, colliding with a second vehicle. The second vehicle was operated by a 30-year-old female nursing student who had been working in the Laurel area that day. Police confirmed that the driver of the Toyota then fled the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 30-year-old nursing student was severely injured in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for some time. Police searched for the driver of the Toyota but have not yet said if they were located.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
