Forsyth, GA (November 17, 2021) – Around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, November 17, a fatal train accident occurred in Forsyth.
According to Georgia officials, the accident happened at a private crossing over the Norfolk Southern Railway in Forsyth. A driver was in a Ford Flex in the area when it became stuck as it tried to drive over the tracks. A 47-year-old man inside the vehicle was attempting to help a 93-year-old woman and a 66-year-old woman get out of the Ford before the train approached. However, he was unable to do so and the train collided with the SUV when it could not stop in time.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The three victims inside the Ford were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody else was injured in the collision.
The area was blocked for an extended period of time after the accident.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time.
