Decatur, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Crash at Covington Hwy & S Indian Creek Dr

Decatur, GA (September 29, 2021) – At 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning, September 29, a fatal pedestrian crash occurred in Decatur.

According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Covington Highway and South Indian Creek Drive. A driver was headed west in the area when they suddenly struck a pedestrian walking in the area. The pedestrian hit the windshield and rolled off onto the ground due to the force of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was seriously injured in the crash. They were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Due to the severity of the crash, lanes were blocked for a period of time. Police reopened the roadway around 7:15 a.m.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
