Blythe, GA – Multiple Injuries in Bus Crash on Deans Bridge Rd

Blythe, GA (September 10, 2021) – At 5:54 a.m. on the morning of Friday, September 10, a bus crash occurred on a roadway in Blythe.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at 5000 Deans Bridge Road. A Richmond County school bus was stopped in the area picking up a student. This is when a Chevy Silverado slammed into the back of a school bus while the student was getting on the bus.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the school bus, as well as eight students, were taken to local hospitals with neck and back injuries. The driver of the Silverado was also taken to the hospital with injuries.

The driver of the Silverado told police that he sneezed and did not see the bus stop in front of him. He was cited for following the bus too closely.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues.
