Athens, GA – Pedestrian Accident at Baxter St & Finley St Intersection

Athens, GA (May 1, 2023) – A pedestrian was hurt in an accident that took place at an Athens intersection in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 29.

According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened around 12:20 a.m. at the intersection of Baxter Street and Finley Street. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was crossing the street at the intersection when they were suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle remained on scene after the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was treated on scene by EMS crews. Their condition is not yet known.

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible so traffic could resume as normal.
